This painting shows five shields representing the five clan groups of the Gunaikurnai and Borun's canoe as well, as though he is coming down the mountains, creating the Country of the Gunaikurnai. They all come from the land, from bark. The footprints represent people walking on Country.
The reason I use gold is that the land is like gold, valuable to Aboriginal people and culture. We have a deep connection to Country and have to look after the land.
In my artworks I don't use many dots, I use lines to represent the culture of South Eastern Australia. I have also included printed images from some of my older paintings.
