About the Artist
I am a proud Dunghutti woman raised in Mildura. I relocated to Melbourne in 2019 and was gifted a set of derwent pencils in 2020 when I decided to start drawing. Surprised in myself I began drawing portraits of pets, birds etc. In 2022 I illustrated my first painting and have been going on with portraits and landscapes since continuing to learn each time. I particularly enjoy the spirit of eyes and how they hold our emotions and journeys.
About the Artwork
Artwork is a story depicting myself meeting Uncle Brian (a massive community influence for me). I met Uncle Brian, whose totem is a turtle, through Uncle Tony Dennison, who taught me how to paint. The turtle in the picture represents Uncle Brian, however 'Old Uncle T' represents Uncle Tony who sadly passed in 2022. The story is where we are headed in the future.
