About the Artist I am a tertiary trained artist in studio glass which includes kiln forming, hot glass, refractory mold making, wax carving, wax and glass casting. I have exhibited in selected group exhibitions and am currently testing bespoke formed and functional glass. I am interested in First People’s history of using glass to mimic original technologies and so creating new functional and aesthetic artefact. For me, the handmade continuous (her) story of material, trade and cultural thinking. About the Artwork Kuruka is the bakka (river) basket which represents deep time technologies of harvesting, weaving, handling and hospitality. This motivates me to mimic with glass, a material that is functional, durable and is celebrated for its aesthetics of nature, light and beauty. Enjoy Kuruka.
