About the Artist Michael Doidge (Jackson) is a proud Dja Dja Wurrung man who paints as a hobby and a way of expression. Mostly his works are in acrylic on canvas. Growing up in a number of foster homes and as a ward of the state, he found his identity through art and the storytelling that Aboriginal art allows us to explore. Most of his art was generally in black and white or grey lead. But he has recently found comfort in using colours. His childhood was difficult at times and his art began as an escape from the environments that he faced, which leant itself to a lot of self healing and inspired him to become the artist that you see today. About the Artwork Being removed and growing up in the system, being guided by good and bad voices, always finding a way back to culture to stay grounded.
