About the Artist My name is Jasmine-Skye Marinos, I am a proud Arrernte woman and living on Wadawurrung Country. I am a textile artist, I love to sew, weave, crochet and create handmade items, however I do dabble in other mediums like painting and graphic art. My passion is to share traditions and stories, passing it onto our future generation. I enjoy community projects and strengthening culture through arts and craft. About the Artwork This Emu Feather Dress is hand woven with natural raffia and hand gathered emu feathers. I designed this dress for 'We the Makers: Sustainable Fashion Prize 2023' and was a top 20 finalist. Included with the dress is a hand woven emu feather necklace, dilly bag and handmade spotted Red Gum clap sticks. I designed this outfit using only traditional techniques, to pay respect to my ancestors that lived off the land for thousands of years.
