Corina applied for Blak Design to create time for herself and to explore a new creative practice, ceramics. This program has provided an opportunity for Corina to prioritise her artistic practice. In an environment where she could create without any limitations, with a sense of freedom and space, after many years of focusing on her creative business Amber Days. Corina has always been drawn to the mindful process of ceramics, using the clay from the earth, your hands to create, the spectrum of limitless colours of glazes - all the way through to the firing and finish. Her initial inspiration coming into the Blak Design was to celebrate her rituals, particularly her morning observance with coffee and breakfast. Originally wanting to make ?the perfect mug? and bowls to guide the way she starts her mornings, as this brings her peace and sets her up to take on the day. Boonwurrung Country is very important to Corina and she was inspired by the colours of the coast with soft blues and greens. Whilst she was a natural on the wheel, throwing ?the perfect mug? is something Corina is still working towards. Presented here are hand built bowls organic in shapes inspired by the bays of Boonwurrung Country with a gold rim embodying the golden horizon and adding an element of luxury inspired by sea country.

A proud Yorta Yorta and Boonwurrung woman, Corina Muir is a designer, nature protector, campaigner, mother and founder of ethical children’s wear label Amber Days.

Corina is passionate about the environment and people, with much of her work inspired by the Aboriginal bush, desert and sea. She aims to have minimal environmental impact and create positive change. Through her work, she regularly collaborates with Aboriginal artists to share stories through art and continue culture.

Driven to break down the barriers that young women of colour face, having previously worked in the areas of family violence, child protection and community organising, Corina understands the challenges many women of colour face, and uses her business as a vehicle for change.

Corina aims to bring pride and connection to First People’s culture, by strengthening their voice, sense of identity, connection to Country, and revitalising culture and language.
