Mirnu Piyali is my depiction of our Ancient "Ring Trees", and the relationship between our Ring Trees and our Ancestors who created them and also the connection between our people with the trees with our Culture and Country.

 

Artist Bio:

I am a practicing cultural artist practitioner based in Robinvale on the Murray River in North West Victoria.

My artwork consists of Paintings, carving of traditional cultural implements, wood engravings, wood burning, emu egg carving, wood carving, painting murals, plant fibre weaving for net making, bark etchings, possum skin cloak making.

Materials that I use include acrylic paints, ochres and natural fibres, plant materials, wood, tree bark, water from rivers and creeks, tree sap, stone, bone, mussel shells, animal skins.

My artistic designs depict the cultural landscape in my traditional Country, Ancestors and Ancestral beings, animals, plants, birds, fish, plants, skies, spiritual beings, connection to land and water, creations stories.
