mixed media on paper, 2023

The mix of blue and green to represent Torres Strait ocean blue waters and land. There is the black and white night stars, there are leaves and my hand to identify me as a proud Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander. Mainly to represent me and my culture.

Artist Bio:

I'm proud a WAKA WAKA Woman from North Queensland from Cherbourg. I'm a senior student in an independent secondary school where I've been attending Art workshops, I've also been meeting some Elders along the way here in Melbourne's northern suburbs. Still getting to know the mob down here even though I've been living here for over 10 years, did not have much knowing about the Elders and mob down here in Melbourne.

I love to make art that represents me in what I make into a story of my culture. I grew up not really knowing who I am as an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander in primary school. I will say I am new at art, I didn't start that long ago about 5 months in now. Still working on building a platform for my art to be shown in coming time.
