It's a box with rocks inside to represent earth with a coffin with an ice pipe inside. The devastating effect this has on our/all people is very traumatic on all people, every family is affected by this scourge and there is no cure especially what it does to their mental health, the mental health of families affected by this and eventually death. There is no cure as of yet so it's time to look outside of the box to create discussion on finding a way to help all people to try something new to make a difference. As each person reads this I bet that you know or know of someone that is affected by this insidious drug, let's all talk about what we can do to help someone change and make a difference in their life.

Artist Bio:

I am a Kirrae Wurrung warrior from the Gunditjamara nation, I have been practicing art for around 20 years now. I like to use my art to tell my story and how I use art to explain my past, present and future. I have a long history of incarceration and addiction and art as my therapy to travel a different pathway that I am on with the help of The Torch program. The Torch have been a big part of this new me. I also like to introduce mainstream people of the way our people have been living here for thousands of years looking after our land and how we can all do our little bit to take care of our Country, to maintain our lands and food supply for future generations.

This piece is about the scourge of the drug ice, every family is affected by ice in one way or another through a family member or friend, everyone knows someone affected by it in one way or another. I have been an addict for 45 years and I have never seen an insidious drug affect our communities like this has. What this drug does to our/all people is devastating, the suicidal, mental health and death rate is going to affect our next generation people if nothing is done about it. I have a shoe box painted and designed to grab people's attention, inside is rocks painted by me with a coffin in the middle, there is an ice pipe in the middle to represent the end result of people using ice. My intention is to create discussion about ice and what we can do to inform people that we have to do something about this insidious and devastating drug. There is no cure as of yet so we have to look outside of the box to find a way to help our future generations. I have 50 years of lived experience so I am up for any future discussions on what we can do to make a difference for our people. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
