It’s a happy painting about Djillang / Geelong beach. No doom or gloom. I always put my totems Bundjil the eagle and Waa the crow in them.
Marlene Gilson, Wadawurrung Artist. Lived in Gordon for 50 years in the shadow of Kirritt Barreet, where Bundjil the Eagle created the first two men in the Kulin calendar. She was born In Warrnambool in 1944. She lived there for 3 years before moving to Melbourne. Started painting after an illness and put the Wadawurrung people back into the narrative. She continues to paint daily.
